Winter Training Starts Soon!
Winter Training Starts Soon!
November 15th - Feb 21st
What To Expect:
Our Winter Warrior Program is a 14 week winter training program designed to help athletes capitalize on the aerobic engine built during Cross Country. Instead of taking an “off season” athletes will learn continuity through a “Pre” season. During this time they can expect a winter full of challenging workouts that will safely improve top end speed and running economy. By the time athletes complete our program they will be ready to crush it from day one of the spring Track season.
Program Dates:
Our Winter Warrior program starts on November 15th 2025 and ends February 21st 2026. It will meet 2-3x per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays.
Days / Times / Locations:
Monday / Wednesday Practices: 6:45 pm
Pettit National Ice Center (Starting Nov 17th - Feb 18th)
Saturday Long Runs (HS Athletes Only): 9 am.
Greendale HS, Athletic Entrance (Lower Lot) (Starting Nov 15th - Feb 21st)
Middle School Athletes:
For Middle School Athletes, sessions will be held twice a week on Mondays, and Wednesdays. Select middle school athletes may be invited to join the High School Program for part of the Saturday workouts. This will be done at the coaches discretion and discussed with the athlete / parents in advance. Over the course of our program we will encourage our middle school athletes to work up to consistently running 4-5 days a week.
Fees:
Fees are $220 (Unless you were a part of our inaugural 2024 cohort). Fees are due at the first session. $40 discount for additional siblings. Cash is preferred and will land you a $20 discount. Payment can be split if needed. Please note, there is an additional cost to purchase admission to the Pettit once we transition there between $2 - $4 per visit not included in the fees. We suggest that families register their athlete with the Badgerland Striders to lock in $2 admission to the Pettit. After week one, there are no refunds barring extenuating circumstances.
Other Things To Note:
Sessions may be cancelled due to extreme weather / Pettit Closures / coach scheduling conflicts. We will do our best to communicate cancellations in advance, as well as offer make up sessions if it is reasonable to do so.
Our program is open to ALL middle school / high school athletes in the area and surrounding areas.
Due to track constraints, capacity is limited to 20 athletes per program. Slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis with previous athletes receiving priority. Transportation is not provided.
What To Bring:
Please invest in a new pair of running shoes for your athlete to kick off winter training. Overused footwear leads to preventable injuries in distance running. You can find great deals by visiting an outlet store in the area, or buying an older model of a specific training shoe online.
Late Fall / Winter in the Midwest tends to get cold. The Pettit National Ice Center also happens to be cold. For safety, athletes should arrive to each practice with cold running gear. This includes things like warm hats, hoodies, running jackets, compression tops / leggings, gloves etc. Failure to dress for the cold may result in your athlete being unable to participate.
Final Remarks:
Our program is not intended to replace Winter running with your fellow high school team, it is meant to supplement it. This means on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays athletes should still get together with their respective teams for easy base miles and strength training.
